THE CIRCUIT NEWS
Steve Ferreira collaborated with a team of mechanical engineering undergraduate students at UC Santa Barbara on their capstone project which focused on developing an accessible functional trainer for people in wheelchairs. This would allow athletes with disabilities to work out alongside their peers.
King 5 Evening Magazine with Jim Dever
Jim Dever did a segment on Steve’s work with students at Lindberg High School in Renton, WA. The video focuses on Steve assisting the students to build an accessible rowing machine. Steve is a motivational speaker, but he is also an athlete and has been disappointed with the lack of accessible equipment at local gyms. He is also involved with a project with a group of Engineering students at UC Santa Barbara to develop an accessible functional trainer for people who are wheelchair users. The goal is to have accessible equipment in all gyms.
ASIAN VOICES
Steve Ferreira, Executive Director of Beyond Disabilities, was featured on Season 4, Episode 7 of Asian Voices. Asian Voices is a cultural and educational cable TV show featuring Asian and Pacific Islanders. Asian Voices attempts to break down the stereotypes and barriers and create a positive voice for these cultures. Steve was interviewed for his advocacy for the disabled community.
